About us

The accommodation at Gwyndra comprises of -


*King en-suite room

*Double en-suite room

*Twin en-suite room. 


All rooms are on the 1st Floor and accessible by outdoor stairs and a private guest entrance. Please be aware we do not have a lift.

Check in is from 4pm till 9pm, if you require an early check in please contact us as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate this. 


Once owned and ran by the wonderful Oliver family, the bed and breakfast is now owned and ran by the Fisher-Wills Family. All three rooms are very spacious and have a television and tea & coffee making facilities. WiFi is fully available and free. All rooms can be made available for a single occupant, at a supplement to the price. 


Breakfast is served in the light & airy dining room between 7am and 9am. Help yourself to a range of teas, freshly brewed coffee, cereals and toast. Hot food can be pre-ordered with our breakfast forms every day. Special diets catered for if required, including vegetarian, vegan and Gluten free. 


Daily housekeeping includes, tea and coffee station top up, bin change, toilet roll top up (if needed) and new towels if requested.


Gwyndra is a spacious, family home built in the early 1930’s. Formerly used as a Residential Rest Home, in the heart of St Austell the property is set in a large secluded garden only a couple of hundred yards away from the bus and rail station. Gwyndra has ample car parking on site and is on the Cornish Way - part of the national Cycle Network.


St Austell is the main market town for the Cornish Riviera and there is easy access to the Eden Project, Charlestown, Fowey, Mevagissey and the many local gardens such as Heligan Gardens and other attractions. There is a regular bus service direct to Heligan and the Eden Project available from the rail station.



Please be aware we regrettably are no longer a pet friendly establishment.

*If you have not already paid for your stay, any remaining balance will need to be paid by cash or card on arrival to Gwyndra House.


*Maximum room capacity - 2 People e.g. 2 Adults or 1 Adult and 1 Child maximum.

Please be aware that due to the small size of our B&B and close proximity of the rooms we cannot accept children under the age of five. We do not have family rooms and are not able to add any extra beds.


*Check in is between 4pm and 9pm, please contact us via email or phone if you wish to check in any earlier and we will try our best to accommodate this for you. We are a small family run business and do not have a 24 hour reception/check in desk. If you are going to arrive after 9pm please let us know ASAP so we can try our best to accommodate this, in the interests of not disturbing other guests, check ins past 9pm are sometimes not possible.


*Check in is at reception on the ground floor of the property.

*Check out is at 10am, please do ask us if you require late check out and we will try our best to accommodate this.

*Guests enter the house on the ground floor, there are stairs with handrails to the first floor where the guests rooms are. once checked in, guests have their own entrance and exit which also consists of stairs with handrails, this is outside and there is no curfew for entry and exit times. 

*All rooms are non smoking, we have a designated area on the guest terrace for smoking.

*There are parking spaces available for the duration of your stay, these are in the guest carpark immediately as you enter the property, we recommend reverse parking for easier access. The driveway is in constant use.

*All rooms are two persons maximum capacity, we do not have the means to add any extra beds in rooms.

 *There is currently no guest access to the garden, only the sun terrace.

*Please inform us of any food allergies/intolerances as soon as possible

*All towels and bed linen are provided

*All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities

*We do not accept pets 



*If you don't show up at this booking and you do not cancel following the hotels cancelation policies, the property is liable to charge you the full reservation amount*
